Project in and around our house.
Laundry area / Bathroom downstairs and Utility room
In December 2014 Francois and Harry started with renovating the Laundry area and bathroom downstairs. By the time Harry had to go home again, all the tiling was finished, Francois just had to finish the paintwork and put back all the cupboards, taps, and all the other things you'll find in those rooms.
After this, Francois renovated the adjacent Utility room as well, to complete it all.
This Utility room was mostly visible bricks walls all around and used as a storage/ cat feeding area.
Now the walls are all covered with giprock and some cupboards are placed into it as well for extra storage.
You can see the result here below.

Mai n bathroom
In September 2013 Francois started with the renovation of our main bathroom. On his "kids free days" the bathroom was stripped down completely, new walls were placed, new plumbing, rewire electric cables, waterproof walls and floor, tiling, painting and after a few months, we can enjoy our new bathroom. You can see the result here below.
Balcony
In April 2012, Harry (Francois' dad) came over to help out with renovating our balcony.
The original one was absolutely not safe anymore, the deck on it was mostly rotten and certainly not safe for the kids to play on it.
90% of all the balcony has been replaced with new timber and it's looking really good and very safe.
A very big thanks to Harry for helping me out and for all the hard work.
Still a lot of work to do before I can show the finished product, I'm still painting.
Hope to have it finished in a few weeks before the nice weather really starts, so the kids can run around on it safely as well.
The few weeks turned into a few months, bad weather (on my "kid free days") was the main reason, but the result is great.

Retaining walls
End of February / early March 2012, we got our retaining wall replaced at the front of our house. The old one was looking as if would fall over any day now, so it was time to make it safe and looking good again.
At the same time we had some work done at the back and the side of our house. It looks much better now and it should save us a lot of work (not that many weeds growing anymore there where the pebbles are).
Still a lot of work to do before the garden looks like we want it to be. To be continued .........

Timber deck at the back of the house
Finally, after a few years of planning for changing the look under the veranda at the back of our house, we started building the timber deck.
It took a few months to build, due of the fact, it was more work than expected and we had only a day (or 2 days max) a week to work on it.
But the end result is great, the kids love it, we love it, finally a nice place to sit and relax and to entertain.
And also important, a big safe place for the kids to play.
The cats love it too, they can sit up on the railing to look over the yard and scan for bugs/mice to hunt, or to look over the fence to annoy the neighbor dogs!
A very special thanks to our friend Foxx, for helping me with all the hard parts of the project.
