Remembering our Columbus
Very suddenly we had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Columbus.
We always joked that Columbus would have a short but glorious life, but still, it's a shock when indeed it happens.
Since the first hour we got him home from the AWL on 11 January 2007, it was clear that he was an explorer, always looking for the next adventure. That's why he was given the name Columbus.
Unfortunately on the way back home from one of his exploratory trips to the other side of our street, he was involved in a collision which he didn't survive.
He was such a funny cat, always demanding to be patted and didn't take no for an answer. He liked to drink his water from any unattended glass and also any unattended plates of food had a good chance to be sampled by him.
He didn't mind the company of kids (ours and everyone else's), who loved to pat him, pull his tail, and occasionally smack or annoy him in other ways, especially when he was having a rest somewhere in the lounge room. He was very tolerant and very rarely showed his claws. He was the cat that always came to have a look at what you were doing, hiding in places in the house where he was not allowed, and most times when you came home, he was the one who came to say hello.
Yes, he was annoying sometimes: when he put his claws in your butt or belly as he made himself comfortable next to you (or on top of you) on the couch, or when you had to stop things on the coffee table being swept away by the "destructo-tail" (we stopped using tall water glasses) but it made him Columby (which was only one of his pet names, others were Collie, Lumby, Stripey, and at the time he tipped the scales at 8kg: Fatso).
He will be missed by the LoveTrek Team, but not forgotten.
Below some pictures from him since the day we had him.
